About the event

Imagine a new mother stands at a busy community event, her baby crying and nowhere comfortable to feed or change them. She looks around, weighing whether to leave early or struggle through the moment. For many families in our region, this is not a rare experience. It is the reality of navigating early parenthood without adequate support, privacy, or connection.

WOMB is working to change that.

This season, we are raising funds for an enclosed trailer to transport our Nursing Nook and mobile changing space throughout the North Country. This simple but powerful resource creates a welcoming place where families can pause, care for their babies, and feel supported in the middle of their daily lives.

Founded in 2021 by a group of dedicated local women, WOMB serves the women of the North Country of New Hampshire and the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We have offered more than 15 educational classes on pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum care, along with Birth Story and Breastfeeding circles that bring women together in shared experience and support. In just three years, we have reached more than 100 women, many returning again and again for community.

But the need is growing.

With the closure of three out of five labor and delivery units in our region, families are traveling farther for care while providers are stretched thin. Too many mothers are left feeling isolated at a time when connection and support matter most.

The Nursing Nook is one way we meet that need in a visible, meaningful way. It is not only a private space for feeding and changing babies. It is a doorway into community. It helps normalize breastfeeding in public spaces, sparks conversations, and connects families to essential resources, including doula services and local support networks.

When families step into the Nursing Nook, they are not just finding a place to sit. They are finding information, encouragement, and a reminder that they are not alone.

An enclosed trailer will allow us to bring this experience to more towns, more events, and more families across our region. It will expand our ability to show up where support is needed most and continue building a culture of care, awareness, and connection.

Because no woman should have to navigate pregnancy, birth, or early motherhood alone.

Join us in making that vision a reality.
