About the event

We want to hear from our vibrant and diverse doula community. As we embark on the exciting journey of creating a supportive doula co-op, it is essential for us to gather insights and feedback from you regarding your needs and preferences. Your input is invaluable, as it will help shape the resources and support systems we develop. To better understand how we can assist you, we would like to know what specific areas you feel would benefit you the most.

Do you need -

*Companionship: The journey of a doula can sometimes feel isolating, and having a network of supportive peers can make a significant difference. We want to foster connections that allow doulas to share experiences, celebrate successes, and provide emotional support to one another.

*Time to debrief: After attending births, it is crucial to have a space where you can process your experiences. We are considering creating structured opportunities for doulas to come together and reflect on their births, share challenges, and discuss what went well, which can be incredibly therapeutic and informative.

*Continuing education: The field of childbirth and postpartum support is always evolving. We want to know what topics you are interested in exploring further, whether it’s advanced techniques, new research, or the latest trends in maternal care. Your input will guide us in organizing workshops and training sessions that cater to your professional growth.

*Resources: Access to the right materials can enhance your practice significantly. We are eager to gather suggestions on what types of resources you find most helpful—be it books, articles, online courses, or tools that can assist you in your work with families.

*Marketing strategies: Building a successful practice often requires effective marketing. We would love to hear what challenges you face in promoting your services and what assistance you might need in developing marketing strategies that resonate with potential clients.

*Someone to fill in while you are on vacation: Taking time off is essential for self-care, but it can be difficult to manage your clients during your absence. We are exploring options for creating a system where doulas can support each other by stepping in when one is on leave, ensuring continuity of care for families.

*Networking: Connecting with fellow doulas can open doors to collaboration and referrals. We aim to facilitate networking opportunities that allow you to build relationships within the community, share insights, and perhaps even partner on projects.

*Classes: Whether it’s prenatal education, newborn care, or postpartum support, we are interested in knowing what types of classes you would like to see offered. This could be a great way to enhance your skills and provide additional services to families.

*Book review club: Engaging with literature related to childbirth, parenting, and doula work can be enriching. We are considering starting a book club where we can discuss impactful reads, share insights, and learn from each other’s perspectives.

*...? We are open to any other suggestions you may have that could enhance our community and support your practice. Your ideas and experiences are crucial in helping us identify additional needs and opportunities.

Whether you have been a doula for many years, are new to the profession, have completed your training but have not yet begun working with mothers, or are simply interested in learning more about what it means to be a doula, we invite you to join us for our inaugural Doula Dinner. This gathering will feature a hearty meal of chili and all the fixings, providing a warm and welcoming environment where we can listen to your thoughts and work together to build a strong, connected community of doulas in the North Country.

Please RSVP at your earliest convenience so that we can plan dinner accordingly and ensure that everyone has a seat at the table. We look forward to hearing from you and collaborating to create a supportive network that meets the needs of our doula community.
