WOMB is thrilled to be bringing our recently debuted North Country Photovoice Exhibit to the heart of Coos County, where a majority of participant-researchers reside. Through cameras and conversations, our participant-researchers—all of them mothers navigating pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—documented their lived realities and reflections. Some focused on moments of transformation, others on obstacles in accessing care or support. Each photo was paired with a narrative that gave voice to their experience.
In addition, we will be enjoying dinner together and screening the movie "Birth Time", where three women embark on a mission to find out why an increasing number of women/people are emerging from their births physically and emotionally traumatized. Their discoveries expose the truth and lead them to join the birth revolution and create this Birth Time education platform that hopes to change the face of maternity care across the world.

The Building Your Village panel aims to deepen the audience’s understanding of the current state of maternity care—both nationally and within our own community—by spotlighting the challenges and opportunities that impact women & families today. Through thoughtful conversation, lived experience, and professional insight, our hope is that attendees walk away with:
A clearer understanding of the strengths and gaps in our local maternity care system, especially in relation to the themes explored in Birth Time
Knowledge of the vital roles doulas, community health workers, midwives, and community-based birth workers play in improving maternal health outcomes and autonomy
Awareness of statewide and national efforts to promote respectful and equitable maternity care
Tangible ways for families and community members to access support, advocate for informed care, and build more compassionate systems of support
A renewed sense of connection to the idea that “it takes a village”—not just to raise a child, but to support, protect, and uplift families throughout the entire journey
